The "Duck Pond" behind the AFN studios

Its right name is Dreipfuhl Park and it wasn't a installation of the U.S. army in Berlin. But many veterans had a relation with it and memories about it. For some of them was it the direct neighborhood, if they lived in the Dreipfuhl housing complex. These pretty houses are still today a nice place for living.

Others spent their coffee breaks here. The AFN and CCMF were some steps away only on Saargemünder Strasse. The Truman Plaza was also not so far away. One of my Instagram friends told me his story. The duck pond was one of his favorite places in Berlin while his assignment.

He and his friends bought wine and some snacks in the Truman Plaza's PX. In the late afternoon and early evening hours these young guys found here a beautiful place for their picnics forty years ago.

I love this place too. It's one of Berlin‘s cleanest and non overcrowded parks still today.

  1. This was one of my favorite places too. What a great blog site this is. Love all the pictures and the description of all the places we all knew so well in those days.
